Licensing

One driver, one processor.

A license is not a site license and not a dealer-wide unlock. It names a driver id and the processor MAC address. The price is $149 USD. The .rtidriver file is free to download. You can install it, program the job, and decide later.

The 120-minute trial

On a licensed build, a processor with no valid key runs the driver for 120 minutes after each boot, then the driver stops. Rebooting the processor starts another 120 minutes. That is the whole trial. There is no phone-home required to start it, and the license check itself does not need the internet. The processor verifies the key with the public key built into the driver.

The files on this site today do not enforce that stop. They are workbench 2026.10.29.5. The checker exists in the workbench, and these drivers do not call it yet. A key you buy now will be accepted by the build that does. Until that build ships, the download simply runs.

What the key looks like

A key starts with DSO1. and has two more dot-separated parts: the license text and a signature. The text records the driver, the MAC with separators removed, standard or showroom edition, an expiry date or none, a license id, the day it was issued, and an optional site name. The signature is RSA-2048, PKCS#1 v1.5, SHA-256. Changing any character makes the key fail.

An all-driver showroom key uses driver id *. It covers every DSO driver on that one processor, not every processor in the showroom.

Showroom and NFR

Dealers can request a free not-for-resale key for a showroom processor. The form stores a pending request. Dan approves or refuses it. Nothing is signed until he approves. An NFR key is for demonstration, not for a paid client job.

Check-in

A later driver build can phone home. The processor sends its own random nonce. The reply is signed with the same key and repeats that nonce, because the driver does not trust TLS alone. Only a signed reply of revoked for that nonce should send the driver back to the trial. A network failure, or any other status, leaves a locally valid key alone.

Moving the job to a new processor

You can transfer a license to a different MAC 3 times in any 365 days, from the transfer page. The old key still mathematically verifies, and the next check-in reports it revoked. Remove it from the old processor. A fourth move in that window waits, unless you email Dan.
